EVENT 1136

Saturday September 15,2018

10 members and one pup attending

Admittedly Sleeping Beauty is a bit of a drive( myself included) but, the reward of a uniquely beautiful view of the Lake George region with the Tongue Mountain range as well as Cat and Thomas is a worthy goal. In the expansive view are the Adirondacks to the North and the Green Mountains to the East. Switchbacks make the challenge of the climb easier. We all enjoyed our lunches while we took in the view and then headed for Bump Pond. There were some unique sights at Bump Pond including a” Hornbecker” and the remnants of an old massive hearth. The “Hornbecker” had carried his craft up to his put-in and of course, back to the Clearing when he had finished his water challenge. It is also interesting to see the intensive work that went into the trail below the Pond that made it possible to bring carriages up to the home that was once there. Our day finished with a toast of 1911 Hard Cider and tasty cookies from Marilyn and Sue. A Perfect Alpiner day.
